PBR MSG 2027: Tickets, Seating and Madison Square Garden Guide

PBR returns to Madison Square Garden on January 8–10, 2027. The Monster Energy Buck Off at the Garden presented by Ariat has evening sessions on Friday and Saturday, followed by a Sunday afternoon session. To buy PBR MSG tickets, begin with the official event listing, then select the date or package you actually want. A two-day listing and the three-day event describe different things, so check the included sessions before choosing seats.

The Garden is marking PBR's 20th year at the venue. For fans, the appeal is the contrast: an arena associated with New York basketball and hockey becomes a dirt-floor bull riding setting, with each matchup decided in seconds. This guide explains how to pick your session, compare ticket offers, judge the arena view and plan the trip through Penn Station. Information below was checked on October 14–15, 2026; prices, seating availability and event-day instructions should be checked again when you buy.

PBR MSG 2027 dates and which session to choose

The official PBR New York event page lists three sessions at Madison Square Garden. All advertised start times are Eastern Time, the local time in New York. These are competition start times; they should not be treated as a promise about when doors open or when the event finishes.

SessionDateListed startPlanning consideration
FridayJanuary 8, 20277:45 p.m. ETAllow for evening travel and dinner before entering.
SaturdayJanuary 9, 20277:45 p.m. ETUseful for visitors who want a full day in the city first.
SundayJanuary 10, 20271:45 p.m. ETAn afternoon option, with a separate return-travel plan.

Friday is a sensible choice if you live within comfortable traveling distance and want the event to anchor one evening. It also lets a visitor start a longer PBR weekend with the atmosphere of the opening session. Saturday is easier to combine with a relaxed daytime itinerary, provided you leave enough time to eat and reach the venue. Neither evening should be booked around an assumed exact finish. The pace of the competition, presentations and any interruptions can change the length of your night.

Sunday is the important distinction in this schedule: it starts in the afternoon, at 1:45 p.m. The venue's promotional description refers to three nights of action, but its actual date-and-time listings agree with PBR's Sunday afternoon start. Families who prefer avoiding a late evening may find that attractive. It is also useful for fans who want to stay through the last session, although an afternoon start does not make a tight same-day flight connection a good idea.

Attending more than one day gives you time to recognize riding styles, compare bulls and follow changes in the event standings. That can make a second visit feel more involving than your first, because you are watching with some context. If the weekend is primarily a short New York vacation, one well-chosen session may be enough. Decide how much riding you want to see before searching for a package: buying extra sessions you cannot attend adds cost without improving the experience.

The venue advertises this return as PBR's 20th year at MSG. That history is part of the attraction, but it does not tell you the final 2027 rider lineup or guarantee a specific athlete will appear. Keep those questions separate from your date decision. Use our PBR schedule if you are comparing New York with another stop on the tour.

Buying PBR MSG tickets without confusing the packages

Use the ticket buttons on the official PBR or MSG event page to reach the seller for your chosen session. That keeps the date, venue and ticket product connected. A search result headed “PBR tickets” may show other cities, a resale listing or a package rather than the single performance you had in mind. Check the event name and admission dates before studying the seat numbers.

Single sessions, two-day packages and the full weekend

MSG lists individual Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances alongside two-day and three-day options. The two-day choices include Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday. Ticketmaster's package terms say the purchaser receives the same seat for the included performances, and the package is one ticket that cannot be split into separately transferable single-day tickets. That matters if your plan is to attend Friday and give Saturday's admission to someone else: do not assume a package will support that arrangement.

There is also a timing discrepancy to resolve before attending. PBR and MSG's individual-session listings show Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET, while Ticketmaster's package descriptions state 6:45 p.m. ET. The three-day description also contains an inconsistent Sunday year, although its event title and date range are for January 2027. Check your actual ticket and confirm Saturday's time with MSG, especially if purchasing a package. Do not plan to arrive at the later time simply because another official page displays it.

A package makes practical sense when your whole party wants the same sessions and values keeping the same seats. Single-session tickets give more flexibility when people have different schedules. Compare the package total with the equivalent individual tickets; neither the label “package” nor the number of days proves you are getting a discount. A listing showing a midnight date range is also not an announcement that the riding starts at midnight.

Comparing the final price and premium inclusions

The Ticketmaster package pages use all-in pricing that includes fees before any applicable taxes. Compare the final order for the same number of people, dates and seat quality. Keep transport, food and any hotel stay in your budget as separate items. A slightly cheaper seat can be an expensive choice if it pushes you into an extra overnight stay or leaves a member of your group unable to attend.

PBR's premium program describes options including Elite Seats, chute seating and The Cage. Those are categories to investigate, rather than a promise that every experience is available at the 2027 Garden event. Ask what the specific offer includes, when any pre-show activity begins, whether admission is included and how accessibility works. MSG also directs groups of nine or more to Group Sales. That is a useful route for a club or larger family gathering, although it does not guarantee a lower price. Our PBR ticket guide explains the wider comparison process.

Choosing seats for bull riding at Madison Square Garden

The best PBR seat depends on what you want to notice. A first-time fan who wants to understand the entire competition may value a clear view across the dirt more than the closest possible row. Someone fascinated by preparation in the bucking chutes may prefer the end of the arena where riders settle onto their bulls. Start with that preference, then compare the seats actually offered for your session.

Close to the chutes or higher for the whole arena

Near the chute end, your attention is naturally drawn to the release: the rider setting his rope hand, the gate opening and the bull's first movement. That closeness can make the physical difficulty of the sport easier to appreciate. It is also a more localized view. Once the bull moves away, the rider, rails, people or other floor equipment may affect your angle. “Closer” does not automatically mean you can follow every part of every ride.

A raised position often makes it easier to track a bull's path and see how the bullfighters approach after the rider comes off. You sacrifice some facial detail but gain perspective. For a mixed group, that can be a good compromise: newcomers can follow the movement without relying entirely on the screen, while experienced fans can still watch the matchup. This is a viewing recommendation, not a claim that a particular MSG section guarantees the same sightline for everyone.

Why an event seating map matters more than a basketball map

MSG's general seating link can open a Knicks configuration, and the venue specifically notes that setups vary by event. For bull riding, locate the dirt arena, the chute end and any marked restrictions on the current ticket map. A familiar basketball section number is useful for orientation, but it cannot tell you by itself how a temporary PBR arrangement will look. Check any limited-view notice and use a seat preview when one is available.

Accessible seating and a comfortable family view

The MSG venue guide lists wheelchair, designated aisle-transfer and companion seating, alongside accessible restrooms and assisted listening devices. Contact Accessibility Services before purchasing if these features matter to your party. Explain your needs and ask about the route to the proposed seats; a low row and an accessible route are separate considerations.

For children or anyone sensitive to noise, consider hearing protection and the event's sound and lighting as well as the view. An aisle can make breaks easier, while a steep climb may make a nominal bargain less comfortable. Check the admission rule for your child's age on the actual event offer. Choose a seat that works for the person who will find the visit most demanding, and the rest of the group usually benefits too.

What you will be watching at the Buck Off at the Garden

The Garden event belongs to Unleash The Beast, PBR's premier individual tour. That is the essential sporting context for the ticket: riders are trying to complete difficult matchups and build their own competitive results. A rider may also belong to a PBR team, but a team affiliation beside his name does not turn every appearance into a team game. The 2026 New York event included a separate Team Challenge component; that historical program should not be assumed to be the 2027 schedule.

Look for the official daysheet when the event approaches. It identifies the rider-and-bull pairings, which can change how you understand a session. Following an athlete you recognize is one way in; following a bull whose movement interests you is another. A famous rider drawing a difficult bull creates a different question from a newcomer trying to make his first qualified ride. A published entry list is more useful than an old promotional poster if you are checking a particular athlete.

Following the ride instead of only watching the clock

Under PBR's basic rules, the rider needs eight seconds without a disqualifying contact to earn a ride score. The free hand must avoid touching the rider, bull or ground during the attempt. The potential 100-point total combines a rider component and a bull component, each worth up to 50. The buzzer therefore tells you the attempt has reached the time requirement; the score tells you more about the quality of what happened.

Watch how the rider stays centered as the bull turns, drops its front end or kicks. A rider who looks composed through demanding changes of direction is doing something different from simply holding on. The bull's difficulty matters too: an athletic performance gives the rider more scoring opportunity. PBR introduced finer judging increments for the 2026 season, so unfamiliar decimal endings on a score are not additional fractions of riding time.

A 2026 New York riding photograph illustrates why the first movements out of the chute matter. The rider must match the bull's motion while the safety team follows the action.

Keep watching after the rider comes off. Bullfighters help draw the bull away so the athlete can get to safety; their work is part of understanding a live event. A bull can also receive a performance score when the rider bucks off. That is why the animal's result and the rider's result can tell different stories about the same attempt.

Finally, separate a ride score from standings points and the event's aggregate. One spectacular attempt is worth appreciating, but it does not by itself establish who wins a multi-round competition. Listen to the announcer's explanation of the current round and check the official event information for the 2027 format. Our daysheet guide helps you follow the pairings, and the PBR results page is useful when you want to review the completed event.

Getting to The Garden and through the doors

Madison Square Garden's address is 4 Penn Plaza, New York, NY 10001. Its position above Penn Station makes public transport a practical starting point, particularly for fans coming into Manhattan by rail. Still, reaching the station is only the first stage of getting to your seat. Allow time to orient yourself, find the arena entrance indicated on your ticket and complete entry screening.

Penn Station, subway travel and a realistic arrival buffer

The MTA's Madison Square Garden transit guide is the useful official reference for subway and rail travel. The 1, 2 and 3, and the A, C and E, serve the 34th Street–Penn Station area. Check service changes for the actual January weekend: knowing the normal station is helpful, but it is not a guarantee that your usual route will operate unchanged.

For a first visit, aim to reach the arena area around 45–60 minutes before the confirmed start, while observing the venue's announced door-opening time. That is a planning buffer, not an official PBR admission rule. It leaves room for a wrong station exit, finding your group or needing help with a ticket. If you want dinner beforehand, finish it before that buffer begins. Treating dinner, the walk and security as one short interval is how an otherwise convenient trip becomes rushed.

A visitor arriving with luggage should decide where it will stay before traveling to The Garden. A hotel stop can be more useful than carrying a bag around Manhattan and discovering it does not meet the venue's policy. January also calls for an outfit that works both outside and indoors. Keep the trip manageable rather than assuming you can make several distant sightseeing stops immediately before an evening session.

Mobile tickets, bags and the entrance on your ticket

The current MSG event instructions say to have digital tickets readily accessible on your device. Open the correct event before joining the line, check that all members of your party have a clear admission plan and charge your phone. If you bought a multi-day package, remember its restrictions on splitting individual days. If you cannot use a smartphone, contact MSG ahead of the event to discuss assistance rather than discovering the problem at the doors.

MSG's PBR page says bags must fit comfortably under your seat, and bags larger than 22 × 14 × 9 inches are prohibited. Review the current prohibited-items information as well; being within the size limit does not settle every question about what is inside. For medical or accessibility needs, ask the venue directly. A short, specific question about your item is more reliable than assuming another arena's rules apply.

Use the suggested entrance on your ticket. The closest visible door is not necessarily the entrance best suited to your seating location. Once inside, find your seats and identify a convenient restroom before the presentation begins. You can then watch the first chute opening without turning the opening minutes into a search for your row.

Planning the rest of your New York PBR weekend

A good PBR trip leaves enough space around the riding to enjoy it. For the evening sessions, put the meal before entry rather than reserving dinner at a guessed finish time. For Sunday, decide whether you want a relaxed departure after the final session or whether staying another night makes the trip easier. A nearby restaurant booking or hotel rate is only useful if it fits the session you actually purchased.

If you are using rail, look at the return journey separately from the outward trip. Check where you need to go after leaving the arena, which service you intend to use and what alternatives exist if you miss it. The convenience of Penn Station does not eliminate the time needed to exit with the crowd and reach the right platform. Avoid attaching a rigid last connection to an event whose exact finish has not been confirmed.

For a group attending several days, keeping your seats makes it easier to compare the competition from a consistent angle. You might spend Friday getting familiar with the chutes and screens, then follow specific pairings more closely later in the weekend. Set your total budget around all the sessions you will attend, not only the price shown beside the first date. Accommodation, multiple meals and repeated travel can matter more than a small difference between neighboring rows.

New York is part of the 2027 Unleash The Beast season, which begins with December 2026 events. The calendar year on a ticket and the season label are therefore not always the same thing. This January stop is an opportunity to follow that season's developing story; it is not the World Finals. Check the official entry information as the date approaches rather than treating a previous year's standings or roster as the current field.

If members of your party attend different sessions, the others may want to follow remotely. PBR announced Paramount+ as the primary streaming home of Unleash The Beast under a five-year agreement beginning with the 2026 season. Check the specific January 2027 listing and your region's access before buying a subscription. A television window, live stream and replay can have different timing. Our TV schedule helps with that distinction.

When the weekend arrives, use today's PBR events to orient yourself and review the results afterward. The purchase decision itself is straightforward once you settle the details: choose your sessions, confirm the package and Saturday start time, pick the view that suits your party, then arrange the journey around that ticket.
